When BW appeared on the Opry in the late forties he was the first artist to use a set of drums on the Opry stage. He had hell getting them to let him do it but they agreed. BW never was happy with the "Nashville" sound of the time when he was recording there. He once said that "That Nashville bunch just about ruined my music." He was really shocked when they admitted him to the Country Music Hall of Fame in the late 60's. He never really considered he or his music a part of Nashville or the bluegrass music that is such a "sacred cow" of the contemporary music business in Nashville then and now. BW's music was for dancing.....period. The heartbreak/drinking/marital infidelity subject matter of contemporary country music was never his forte so he didn't really fit in with anything happening in Nashville at the time. Kind regards, John Coleman
