no matter what you record on, when you record a band like the texas playboys that know what they do, it really simplifies things. i recorded an album with 9 playboys on it, & we spent about 10 hours recording & about 5 hours on the mix down. with a band like that, it's best to record them just like a live situation. they work off each other. the bob will's album recorded in wichita, KA, outdoors at the airplane factory, in about '60 was done on a wire recorder & one microphone, i think Blub told me. it set in a closet 20 years before one of them thought to release it.
