'Cotton' Sherman Vedel Whittington was born on December 7, 1921 and died on April 23, 1991. He worked in CA as a script writer in the Hollywood film industry for many years for a firm in Studio City. He stayed in apartment there and actually commuted back and forth to his home in Dallas. His music career was secondary after his writing skills surfaced, and he played mostly in jazz and big band groups after leaving Bob Wills.
