Wow, that's a tough call - and I'm happy to be the first to jump on in with an answer. A couple suggestions: "For the Last Time" is my all-time favorite. Bob was in a wheelchair, hobbled by strokes a few years earlier and only made it to Day One of this project before suffering his final stroke (he went into a coma that night and died nearly a year and a half later, in 1975.) He was only able to croak out some barely intelligible encouragements to the performers - all former Wills side-men- but the love and enthusiasm of the musicians is still evident 30+ years later. Merle Haggard (who was probably the ultimate "Texas Playboys Wannabe") couldn't be there on the first day and, thus, missed Bob. My understanding is that was one of his biggest regrets. Another great album is "Mr. Words and Mr. Music" that Bob did with Tommy Duncan in the early 60's. Lotsa great tunes and subtle humor. Bob's antics break Tommy up a few times. A lot of folks will probably suggest the Bear Family compilation CD, but that's a lot of $$ if you're just looking for a couple of great intros to Bob's music. Now, I can't wait to read others' suggestions! -Austin
