Larry Shaefer sold Eldon's Strat to Tulsa guitar collector Larry Briggs who is part owner of Texas Guitar Shows (which was previously known as Three Amigos Guitar Shows). Shaefer paid Eldon 12.5k for that axe and he later doubled his money in the sale to Briggs. Briggs displayed the guitar around the country at various guitar shows as a museum piece sans price tag. Briggs later sold the guitar to one of the partners of Three Amigos as part of a deal when he bought out that man's interest in the partnership. Briggs netted an estimated 60k for Eldon's Strat alone at the time of the buy out. I don't recall the man's name he sold it to and do not know if the guy still owns it. At one point I heard that Eldon's family was trying to buy the guitar back. I recall back in the early 80's Eric Clapton offered Eldon 10k for the Strat. One can only imagine the elevated pricetag this guitar would have brought had Clapton acquired the instrument and sold it on auction in his recent massive guitar collection liquidation.
