My wife & I went to the Rogers, Arkansas Historical Museum this past Sunday and in addition to a traveling exhibit they currently have, we got to see one of Leon McAuliffe's Steel Guitars (a very old Fender twin-neck) and the shovel that was used to break ground when KAMO Radio was built in Rogers. I got to meet Leon one time, in 1988 when he came to Ft. Smith to perform at a chili cookoff with the Baker Brothers band. He was playing a Fender 4-neck steel at the time. Leon passed away 2 months & two days after his appearance (his last public one) in Fort Smith.
