Jody ,at our age the problem is separating the fact from the myth in them old stories. Last Saturday night, While at a show, I visited with steel player Jimmy Grabowski about his career. He was playing for Charlie Walker in the late 40's when nearly half the band was wiped out. Seemed they hit a cotton truck or wagon that had no lights in the middle of the road narrow down by Kingsville. The car was tore nearly half in two. He was sitting in the middle front seat when it happened. Said he still carries scars from that ordeal and remembers it vividly. He is playing in our area some now and lives in the Austin area.
