Buddy, In '64, Ray got a group of his road band and nashville session musicians together and put out Western Strings. It is told that he had to get 'em near drunk just to play together! With a "gassed" Buddy Emmons on steel and Wade Ray, Keith Coleman, and Tommy Jackson on fiddles, they put together one of the BEST Western Swing instrumental albums ever! My biggest gripe about this album is that it never came out on cd except for the Price Bear box set. I discovered it 33 years ago and still consider it one of the best! For my ear, the cut of Maiden's Prayer on it is the BEST I have ever heard.
