Booger, Pee 'Wee Calhoun didn't directly replace Moe Billington on Leon's band. Moe left in the very early '50s and Pee Wee didn't join until several years later (he was on the band in the late '50s). I don't recall the exact years, but I recall for sure that there was at least one piano man in between, and maybe more than one. Moe left when he got a staff position at KVOO radio. He had a trio which played a night club one or two nights a week. I lost track of him when I moved from Tulsa, but I heard that he passed away a few years ago. Moe was a brilliant talent, and wrote the outstanding arrangements that Leon's band played in the early years.
