George Strait may be too perdy for Tommy's part, but George Clooney wouldn't be if he had the same makeup crew as on "Oh Brother Where art thou". Back about 1975-6 a distant cousin called my Dad late one night, inquiring who may have the rights to Bob's story (hearing of Dad's affiliation with a lot of the "Bands" boys). He was calling on behalf of his boss a filmmaker by the name of George Lucas. Dad hadn't ever heard of him, but suggested he call Betty Wills on the matter. A callback from Cuz' said it was a dead end, because Merle Haggard had bought the rights, and had hoped to play Bob someday.
