I knew Bob Wills; in fact, I knew him so well that I threw up in his lap. I was about a year old when I first met him, he was playing at Wills' Point, in Sacramento, at the time (1946-7)and my dad, (Zeke Lytal) who knew Bob from Texas, had placed me on Bob's lap to show me off, as the band was playing (I believe) Fat Boy Rag. Maybe it was the music, or the crowd, or the Cigar Smoke, whatever, but it was enough to have me toss my last bottle of milk in Bob's Lap. As soon as it happened, he picked me, looked me straight in the eye, smiled, and said to the crowd "Ah hah" which he often did during a tune.
I have many memories of Bob, and the playboys, of Billy Jack courting a young blond gal, etc. Later, we attended a Radio session at a studio in downtown Sacramento, at the old Elk's Temple building. I would like to add more here, maybe another time. Bob, and his music, was special, and so was the era.
