Thanks for the note pistolsteve. I also live in Tulsa and had listened to KVOO am for years, and hated the change to the talk show KFAQ talk radio format. Sadly, this left Tulsa with no alternative except what is called "country music" today, who with few exceptions, lack in terms of songwriting skills, artist expression, originality and talent. Nowhere have you been able to hear any Bob Wills, George Jones, Marty Robbins, Lefty Frizzell, Merle Haggard, etc. Guess I'll give KXBL a chance to fill that void.
Also, read in this morning's paper that Mike Oatman, formerly associated with KVOO and Wichita's KFDI passed away. Mike was a true friend of great country music and supported the KVOO classic country format during his time with the broadcasting system. Mike had a big hand in creating the eight hour series "The Bob Wills Story" listed elsewhere on this website, as well as a recitation tribute to Leon McAuliffe. We'll miss him very much.
