Record distribution in Texas in the 20's

I keep thinking that Texas, as one of the (then) 48 states, wasn't totally isolated from the rest of America. We've been discussing the origins of w.s. solely in a Texas context (or Southwest context). Were "hillbilly" records such as Uncle Dave Macon, Gid Tanner's Skillet Lickers, Charlie Poole, etc. distributed in Texas? If so, would they not have potentially been an influence on the Texas fiddle bands? Or was it a matter of fiddlers in Texas not caring for Appalachian fiddle music, and NOT buying the hillbilly records which were available to them?
