Welcome back! In the interim, I got ahold of a book called (and I believe this is the title; I don't have it nearby) _Jazz of the Southwest_ by Jean Boyd.
I'm having a bit of a hard time getting into it because I'm working on so many projects at the moment, but I'm wondering if anyone here has read the book and has an opinion either way. It seems to be more of a "thesis" book than a history, and as with most theses, I can already imagine myself arguing with it.
Does this book have a positive reputation among the western swing fraternity? I tried to get Tom Dunbar's book, _From Bob Wills to Ray Benson_ through inter-library loan, but I got a call back from the library that they could find no record of its existence. Funny, I've seen it listed as a reference a number of times. Is this one worth pursuing?
