I had the pleasure to play with Lou in Amarillo back in the 50's. At the time he had Billy Bowman, sometimes Shorty Messer and or Gene O'Neal on Steel. Jimmy Young on the Fiddle, Charlie Edwards on the drums. I sang a lot of Hsnk Thompson stuff and they had a hell of lot of fun playing it. The Base player I believe was Phillips, can't swear to that. Yes Lou knew his swing. Roger Miller was there at the time setting in as well before he went to Nashville. He did a song "Lou's got the Flu" as when Lou needed a night off either Roger or myself would help out. I can be reached at cforce@tampabay.rr.com I'd sure like to hook up with any that's left today.
