I didn't get to see Bob in person. But in the early 70's I was becoming aware of the impact he had in Tulsa. People were still talking about him, Cains Ballroom, etc. About that time, Asleep at the Wheel had a hit with "Take Me Back to Tulsa" and KVOO Radio put Bob's original version in heavy rotation on the play list. I was just learning to play guitar at the time, and this music was a real eye-opener for me. The music was so different from what I was used to hearing. Anyway, over 30 years later and I'm still able to use what I learned from those recordings when playing a gig. It's still exciting to listen to, and it's still a great source for learning to play by ear.
