Billy Jack Will is no doubt one of the most interesting of the Wills Borthers. While he was the youngest he was the product of much of his musical heritage. I have traced or should I say chased many leads on this one of my WS heroes to find myself at same cross roads of the music itself. It seems to me that Billy Jack was caught at the beginning of the end. As all of society was transitioning in entertainment styles: music, dance, theatre, and art; the night out was changed as well. As today, it not uncommon to see folk fork out $100 to "set" for a couple hours and listen to George Strait sing his song (and Bob's as well) and call it an evening. I lament at paying $20 to go back to Cain's for the annual Birthday Celebration and hear a bunch of guys try to do the same music Bob, Johnnie Lee, Luke and Billy Jack played for a $.50 admission. I just have to bite my lip and try to picture how it really was! One of my favorite pieces of Bio stuff on BJW is the piece done back in July of 1982 by John Wooley. It is the greatest. If you need a copy check back with John or me and maybe we can get some copies. Since he has left he Tulsa World we do not get his thoughtful insights and in depth material any more. Thanks John!
