I wonder how he felt about coneys. Good ones that is! During that period in the mid fifties, he appeared to be fronting 7-8 piece bands. I can't see him bankrolling a group that size on a beer joint budget...much less fitting them on a postage size bandstand. Then as now, it's tough getting enough pay (and Bandstand space)to handle 4 or 5 pieces.
