Many thanks for that. As I am sure you are well aware Tommy Duncan was one of the voices that inspired many and helped shape the country music scene and through that Rock 'n Roll and more. A great singer, The Texas Playboys would never have been the same without him. Duncan is a common name in Shetland (We tend to call it Shetland rather than the Shetland Isles), my grandmother was a Duncan. Do you have any more precise details as to exactly where in Shetland his forebears came from? Was Tommy born in Shetland? Do you know what year they emigrated to America? I live on Burra Isle, on the west side of Shetland, where my grandmother was born and there are still many Duncans living here yet.
