Saw this post and gave it some long thought. Joe Holly, Louie Tierney, and Jesse Ashlock were THE FIDDLES in the TP through WW II! There were other good ones but these 3 stick out as what made the world take notice of Bob's bands concerning fiddle work. Enough cannot be said for the harmony team work or solo work of Joe & Louie through the years! They set the standard for future great Playboy fiddles that came through the band. Both had thier own style which Bob and his arrangers used to perfection. I think it was Leon Rausch that Bob once told " If you don't watch that Joe Holley, he steal the show from you"! I KNOW that Bob made that statement with PRIDE! I figure having Joe Holley on the bandstand with you was like trying to hold a wildcat with a piece of binder twine! Joe was always ready to make the music better. Then there was Louie's Sax work-But that's another story...
